The 10UAA Jays made it to their second tournament finals this past weekend, losing a hard fought defensive battle to Ajax 3-0.

The Jays had decisive wins Friday night and Saturday morning against Waterloo and Peterborough. They finished pool play on Saturday night with a 13-6 win against a 2-0 West London team, in game where the winner moved on and the loser went home.

The Jays faced a tough Guelph team in the semi-finals, with several lead changes taking place.  The Jays put up 11 runs in the first four innings and held an 11-6 lead before Guelph stormed back to take a 13-12 lead in the top of the 6th.  The Jays cashed one in the bottom half to tie it, then held the Royals scoreless in the 7th, setting the stage for the game-clinching run in the bottom of the 7th to advance to the finals.

In the finals, the Jays faced a formidable opponent in the Ajax Spartans.  Ajax scored 3 runs in the bottom of the first inning, and that would be all of the scoring the game would see.  The Jays threatened a comeback in the top of the 7th after being down to their final strike, but a  hard lineout with runners on 1st and 2nd ended the game.  Both teams got outstanding pitching performances from the hurlers.  Despite not being able to get the bats going, the Jays demonstrated their top-tier defense and the heart of a champion in never giving up.

Congrats to all of the 10UAA Jays for another outstanding tournament performance!  Hard work pays off.
