The 13U AA team travelled to Mississauga this past weekend to compete in the Mississauga North 13U AA Tournament.

The 16 team tournament, with teams from Beamsville to Ajax, was as diverse as it was tough.

On Friday night, Aurora King dropped its tournament opener to Guelph – Doern 6-3 in 7 innings.  However, the team bounced back Saturday morning, beating the host Mississauga North Tigers 3-1.  Late Saturday afternoon, Aurora King proved far too good for Beamsville, bringing out the bats and cruising to an 18-1 victory.

The 2-1 Round Robin record placed Aurora King in the tournament quarter-final against Niagara Falls.  After struggling early on, the Jays made a great comeback to win 11-8 and move on to the semi-finals.  In a semi-final against Royal York that lasted over 3 hours, the Jays prevailed 19-13 to propel themselves to the finals.  In the finals, the Jays ran out of steam in a rematch of their tournament opener against Guelph-Doern, losing 10-4.

Congrats to the 13U AA AK Jays for their second place finish and silver medals!
