The AKBA 15U A team are the Markham Early Bird Tournament champions!!
With solid pitching, hitting, and defense, the team was able to win their first two round robin games.  In the third round robin game, their opponent had to win to advance to the finals so the Jays knew they were going to throw everything they had at them.  It was a tight game from the start, but the Jays were down for most of the game.  They boys rallied to tie in the top of the seventh, but with some bad luck, were walked off in the bottom, setting the stage for a rematch in the finals.
After a long and hot weekend of baseball, the Jays knew the deciding factor in the championship game would be pitching depth.  With incredible pitching and defense through the round robin, they were able to start the finals with 11 pitchers available.  Their bats came alive and with some heads up base running, they were able to take a commanding lead mid-way through the game.  The fielders made some amazing defensive plays while the pitchers dominated the strike zone.  In the end, the Jays depth was too much and they won by a mercy after 5 innings.
Congrats to the AKBA 15U A team!  Amazing job.  And thank you to all the volunteers who pitch in to make the team run – coaches, trainers, manager, score keepers, pitch counters, and supporters.  Let’s do it again next weekend!
