The 13u AAA Jays secured their spot to the OBAs on Sunday after defeating the Vaughan Vikings 11-8.

On Friday night the Jays were up to a tough task playing against the #2 seed Caledon Nationals. The Jays took an early 1-0 leas with Colton Lewis hitting an inside-the-park home run in the first inning. With the game tied at 2 in the top of the 6 inning, Ryerson Edgar lead off the inning with a single, eventually scoring on a double by Andrew Nessinis. Cameron Parker than doubled him in to give the Jays a 4-2 lead heading into the bottom of the 6th and the Jays did not look back. Backed by stellar pitching performances from Cameron Parker and Colton Lewis, the Jays secured the 4-2 win and set up a date with the Newmarket Hawks Saturday morning.

Against the Hawks, the Jays put up a 3 spot in the top of the first with Alex Gudaitis, Ryerson Edgar and Colton Lewis all coming around to score. The Jays put up another 4 spot in the 3rd inning and were in a good position to start the tournament 2-0. Supported with a strong 6 inning pitching performance from Ilias Takopoulos and save from Andrew Nessinis, who stranded the tying run at first base, the Jays won 9-6. The Jays next matchup was the #1 seed Stouffville Yankees, winner getting an automatic bye to the provincials.

The Jays took an early 4-0 lead against their long time rival Stouffville Yankees but failed to close out the game. Anthony Visconti started the game, keeping the Yankees bats at a minimal but it wasn’t enough as the #1 seed took the game 15-8. Losing this game set up at matchup with the Vaughan Vikings, winner secures the YSBA 2 spot and loser goes home.

Once again, the Jays got off to a hot start with Alex Gudaitis scoring on a sacrifice fly by Colton Lewis in the top of the 1st. The Jays broke the game open when they put up a 5 spot in the 4th inning. Big hits all coming from Brady Dawson, Teo Contardi, Cameron Parker, Anthony Visconti, Theodore Brosseau, and inside-the-park home runs coming from Andrew Nessinis and Colton Lewis, the Jays had all the momentum. Led by the south paw, Cameron Parker, going 5.1 innings the Jays were in a strong position to secure the final spot to go to the OBAs. Closed off by 12u AA call-up Dylan Swan, and diving catches from Theodore Brosseau and Brady Dawson, the Jays were able to beat off the Vaughan Vikings and qualify for the OBAs.

Beyond proud of Colton Lewis, Cameron Parker, Brady Dawson, Ryerson Edgar, Alex Gudaitis, Andrew Nessinis, Ilias Takopoulos, Teo Contardi, Theodore Brosseau, Matthew O’Neill, Anthony Visctoni, Adam Didier and call-ups Dylan Swan and Jacob Hamilton.
